Ghana is the 9th largest economy in Africa with a GDP of $58.9 Bn in 2017. It is also among top 10 countries with highest GDP growth in the world standing at 8.1% in 2017.

Ghana has had a favourable trade balance over the past years with $3.9 Bn trade surplus in 2017. Ghana imported 700,000MT Rice in 2017 which was 66% of the total Rice they consumed valued at $400mn. This is 3% of the total value of imports in 2017 stood at $13.2 bn.

We started our rice imports and distribution operations in Ghana in 2010, under our own brand ‘Red Eagle’. We source Rice from Vietnam and Thailand. In 2014, we expanded our import portfolio by starting sugar imports. Sugar is sourced from major Sugar producing countries like Thailand, India and Brazil.
